Candidate Statement
My name is Ali Rezapour. I am a local physician, a long time
supporter and current member of the KFCF Board. Over the past
three years we have formed a new outreach committee, developed
new T-Shirts Logos, tabled multiple events, including tabling
for KFCF, on the Fresno State Campus and reached new audiences
through a program called Common Ground. Answer to Questions: I have been a long time listener, and contributor, of KPFA/KFCF. I have been an active part of this community through multiple channels. Over the past two-and-a-half years I have chaired the Community Outreach Committee (of the FFCF Board) in an effort to reach new listeners and other cultural interactions. We have, for almost two semesters, held a table at the free speech area of Fresno State to promote KFCF to inquiring young minds at that campus. We have reached out to other cultural communities that exist in the Valley by inviting them on a radio program called Common Ground. This program has been airing for more than one year, and has interviewed people from multiple cultural backgrounds including, but not limited to, the Pakistani community, the Hmong community, the Persian community, the Palestinian community, the African community from Sierra Leone and others. We have also, with the help of volunteer artists, developed new T-Shirts for KFCF (the Dove T-Shirt). To me KPFA/KFCF is an invaluable tool in promoting understanding and thus peace among people with such diverse cultural, and religious, and ethnic backgrounds as the United States. I have been honored to be a part of this tool for the past three years. I hope, with the help of other board members, volunteers, and the KFCF community at large, to continue our efforts to bring this invaluable part of a true democracy to the listeners of this community. I hope to increase our communication and collaboration with the other sister stations of Pacifica Radio, especially the Board of KPFA/KPFB in the Bay Area and KPFK in Los Angeles. Through co-promotions and co-sponsorship of speakers, guests and events, I hope to increase the success of what Free Speech Radio tries to achieve.
