Johnny Otis' Music Still Lives on KFCF
There clearly has been
a void since "The Johnny Otis Show" left the
radio airwaves on Saturday mornings at KFCF, 88.1FM.
Johnny Otis is a legend in music. He was
deservedly inducted into the rock & roll hall of fame,
and possessed a charismatic personality which
contributed to his loyal following of listeners in
Northern and Central California. "The Johnny Otis Show"
provided a unique blend of the roots of R & B, as well
as a little blues and jazz thrown in for good measure.
KFCF, 88.1 FM is happy
to announce the launching of a new program which follows
in the tradition pioneered by "The Johnny Otis Show."
"The Soul Kitchen"
debuted on the first and third Saturdays, between 4:00
and 6:00pm, to rave reviews from listeners and critics
alike. The program celebrates the roots of R & B with a
little jazz and blues thrown in for good measure. "The
Soul Kitchen" is left in the capable hands
of Public Radio veteran Kent
Stratford, aka "The Jazz Doctor" to his
listeners, and
features music by the likes of Junior Parker, Big Joe
Turner, The Ikettes, The Falcons, Etta James, and much
more.
