FFCF Election Results FFCF/KFCF Members, The ballots for the FFCF election have been counted and the election results are as follows: Board of Directors Sue Kern 195 Ali Rezapour 184 Gerry Bill 175 Janet Slagter 162 Mark Hernandez 144 There are four open positions, thus Sue Kern, Ali Rezapour, Gerry Bill and Janet Slagter have been elected to the FFCF Board of Directors for three year terms commencing January 2008. Mark Hernandez is runner-up. By-Laws Amendments All the By-Laws Amendments passed: 1. Using the current Roberts Rules of Order to govern meetings. Yes 183 No 19 2. Extending the election deadline until a quorum of ballots are received. Yes 182 No 21 2. Simplify board elections if there are the same or fewer nominees than open seats. FFCF ELECTION 2007 - VOTER GUIDE Here are the candidate statements of the FFCF members who are running for election to the Board of Directors. In addition to their overall statement, each candidate provided more detailed answers to the following questions: 1. Please provide a brief background statement with the skill, experiences and connection with the Fresno Free College Foundation that would bring you to the Board as a director. 2. Please describe briefly you perception of the value of KFCF 88.1 FM and KPFA to Central California. 3. What, in your opinion, is the proper role and responsibility of a Board member? 4. How would you propose to increase the size and diversity of the audience? 5. How do envision the FFCF Board working with Pacifica Radio, KPFA, and the KFCF community? In addition to electing Directors to the Board, we ask you to consider and vote on the following amendments to the Fresno Free College Foundation By-Laws. 1. Shall the bylaws be amended to change the language in Article V Section 4 Rules of Order to read: “The rules contained in the current edition of Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised shall govern the Corporation in all cases to which they are applicable and in which they are not inconsistent with these bylaws and any special rules of order the Corporation may adopt.” From the current Article V Section 4 Rules of Order which reads: “The rules contained in Roberts Rules of Order, Revised, shall govern all members' meetings and Directors' meetings of the Corporation, except in instances of conflict between said Rules of Order and the Articles or By-Laws of the Corporation or provisions of Law.” 2. Shall the bylaws be amended to add the language to Article VI Section 2 Elections: “If the required quorum of ballots is not received by the Elections Close Date, then the Elections Close Date shall be extended by two additional weeks. If no quorum of ballots is obtained by the extended date, then those Directors whose terms would have expired upon the election of new Directors shall remain in office until the next regularly scheduled Director election. 3. Shall the bylaws be amended to add the language to Article VI Section 2 Elections: “If after the close of nominations the number of people nominated for the board is not more than the number of directors to be elected, the Corporation may without further action declare that those nominated and qualified to be elected have been elected.” Please continue to the FFCF Ballot page. Vote for four candidates for the Board of Directors and yes or no on the three amendments to the FFCF By-Laws. Ballots must be postmarked no later than November 30, 2007. FFCF Board of Directors Candidate Application Thank you for your application for candidacy for election to the Fresno Free College Foundation Board of Directors. Please write an overall statement of candidacy no longer than 150 words to be placed on the official FFCF Election Ballot, and then answer the questions below. If possible, it is preferred that the statement and questionnaire be written on a computer so that it can be sent to the Foundation office via e-mail. [Applications can be e-mailed to [vbedoian@kfcf.org] This makes it more efficient to prepare the voter information guide. If you also wish to provide a hard copy of the materials in addition, or do not have internet access, you can mail it to FFCF and PO Box 4364, Fresno, CA 93744, or bring it by the office during business hours, to 1449 N. Wishon Ave., Fresno. Applications will be accepted from September 1, 2007 through October 15, 2007. The campaign and voting period begins November 1, 2007 and ends November 30, 2007. Ballots will be counted in December, and new Board members will be seated at the January meeting. 1.
