Meeting called to order 7:45 PM
Minutes of previous meeting moved, seconded and carried.
VB talked about 2 statements for the financial report and the last Marathon. He discussed KPFA handling billing in the future. He requested that DN and RW review the agreement with KPFA.
VB discussed the secret report that Pacifica had prepared with a consultant and how it discussed moving the satellite system, owned by KFCF, off of KPFA’s premises.
VB announced that we had received the grant for the speaker series and that the first would be on April 9 with John Ross and the second on May 19 with author Mike Davis. Two more speakers are scheduled for the fall, and VB mentioned a number of possibilities..
DN suggested that E-mailing and faxing people about the series might be a good idea.
SB discussed the March 19-20 banquet at the Downtown Club and the conference scheduled for that Saturday at CSUF. SB asked that the Some Local Poets group would like to have the FFCF as the sponsor for an Armenian Commemorative Day at the Bonner Auditorium on April 23rd. M-RW S-CC Passes with BA Opposed
VB said that Amy Goodman, of Pacifica Radio’s Democracy Now had confirmed for the September 25, 1999 event. In the event of an emergency, Jerry Mander was discussed as the backup speaker.
CC said that Pat Wolk had agreed to the August 1st weekend as a date for the party. The conversation digressed into a discussion of the Capital Campaign, and VB reminded everyone that the workshop at DN’s had shown we were nowhere near ready in terms of planning and feasibility. RS suggested that the Party be a Potluck and it was agreed upon, with more family music earlier in the evening.
Brochures are out for the Leave a Legacy program and KFCF should do a mailing.
VB mentioned the deadline for the grants was rapidly approaching and suggested a film/documentary series. RS mentioned that Jim Piper was very interested in putting that together. MSC
DN discussed that he had been approached by Julianna Harris-Bluestein about the FFCF being the 501c3 sponsor for an art magazine similar to the one she had done in New Orleans. Anne Schmidt and Trude McDermott were also involved in the proposal. MSC
